Saving a painting (getting there slowly)

Changed the colour scheme entirely and thinking about sanding the surface flat as well. Not sure yet, but it certainly is an improvement over the coldness of the previous piece:

  1. The movement through the piece is great and i love rich reds next to the bright pinks.

Thanks Janell. You can imagine how it initially came into being with a few quick strokes and then attempting to tie the ‘open’ areas into a movement of sorts.

It wasn’t the overall structure I had a problem with, but more the choice of colours, so I thought I’d go with candy colours instead. The piece looks almost edible now.

  2. Make sure the few green triangles stay.

Yes… they will stay, but I’m thinking of also adding a few white spaces where the yellows are. They seem a bit too strong and take away from the flow and lessen the impact of the the candy reds and pinks.

  3. Yes, the cream in the left upper corner, at least in this photograph, looks good. Maybe more gold like you say.

  4. When I first saw this I thought it was a 3-d cut paper sculpture that was painted!
