Butterfly Bush

DSC_0006

Bees, hummingbirds and, of course, butterflies love this. Plant it, let it grow over the years and sit back and watch the happy critters nourish themselves.

A must have in every garden for entertainment!

  2. I have a couple in my backyard and I love to watch the butterflies on them. I’m never sure how far back to trim them each year. But, they are sure fast growers even when trimmed way back in the spring! Lovely photo.

I prefer to trim back only those tips which interfere with other plants in the garden. The bush does tend to grow and expand rapidly and I’ve noticed that it is not deterred by the occasional cutting. Leaving tips alone brings more flower clusters though, so I tend it sparingly.

  3. This is so true, ours is covered in bumblebees and butterflies each spring and summer. Beautiful photo!
