Whistleblowers Take Note

‘Woe to the coward, that ever he was born
Who did not draw the sword before he blew the horn.’

From Canobie Dick

source Sir Walter Scott, ‘Appendix to the General Preface’, Waverly, 1829 (and easily found on pg. 241 in ‘The Penguin Book of Scottish Folktales’, edited by Neil Philip).

The tale itself is wonderful, including hidden caves, mysterious characters and witchcraft compacted into a very tidy little short story. Happy Googling… 😀
