Project – Moonlit Maple (1)

Moonlit Maple

This is the very beginning of another project. What I’m going to attempt is a 100 year old maple tree in a dark, but moonlit landscape. I’m starting with titanium white on a bone black background, working the eventual shape of the tree and texture of the bark. The red diamond shapes are really thick paint and can stand much sanding throughout the process. Nothing is sure as yet, except for this foreground.

Sorry about the poor lighting in this pic, but I’ll improve on that as the piece develops. I’m using a Nikon D3100 with a 50mm lens.
